Taylor's Terra Feita Vintage Port 2005

The winter preceding the 2005 harvest was exceptionally cold and dry, severely depleting water reserves after an already dry and hot summer in 2004.

The growing season started later than usual due to cold weather and water shortage. The whole growing season was characterized by lower vigor and small berries for all grape varieties.

From May 16 to September 6, there was no more rain. Despite the extreme heat and drought-like conditions, the ripening process proceeded normally, although slower than usual.

Fortunately, the dry summer was broken by steady rainfall between September 6th and 9th, giving the vines the necessary relief to complete the ripening process and deliver a perfectly ripe and well-balanced harvest.
